What is Speech Language Therapy?

Speech language therapists work with children of all ages to enhance an individual’s ability to communicate and express themselves. Communication difficulties may impact a child's ability to use language clearly or understand the language around them. These difficulties may begin as early as birth and impact the child’s development as well as future educational opportunities.

Speech Language Pathologists facilitate the development of a child’s skills in various areas, including but not necessarily limited to:

  • Expressive and Receptive Language Disorders
  • Voice Disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Stuttering/Fluency Disorders
  • Voice and Resonance Disorders
  • Speech Sound Disorders
  • Apraxia of Speech
  • Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC)
